In a worst-case scenario, there could be water restrictions this summer. The Progressive Water Restriction Plan (PWRP) has 4 stages of restrictions.

Stage 1 Restrictions:

• Lawn watering permitted by even or odd house numbers on specific days of the week.

Stage 2 Restrictions:

• Lawn watering permitted by even or odd house numbers on specific days of the week before 9:00am or after 6:00pm.

Stage 3 Restrictions:

• Lawn watering permitted by even or odd house numbers on specific days of the week before 9:00am or after 6:00pm.

• Filling residential swimming pools, wading pools, hot tubs, garden ponds, and decorative fountains prohibited.

Stage 4 Restrictions:

• Watering of lawns prohibited at all times.

• Watering of trees, shrubs, flowers, and vegetables prohibited.

• Washing vehicles and boats prohibited except to maintain visibility of lights, windows, and licence plates for safe operation.

• Filling residential swimming pools, wading pools, hot tubs, garden ponds, and decorative fountains prohibited.

Other potential options to limit water use would be increasing water rates and not using the non­metered raw water irrigation system in 2024.

Urban Hen Pilot Program - a resident located on 12 Street West has asked permission to have up to 20 hens. The property is larger than most, with fewer neighbours. The pilot program allows no more than 4 hens on a single-family dwelling lot of 503 m2.

City Transit system pilot project was to start May 1st. Unfortunately, they did not receive any appropriate proposals.

The request for proposals asked for:

• 2 small buses equipped with a fare box and debit machine.

• Two bus routes Monday through Friday (excepting statutory holidays) from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

• Buses maintained and garaged by the Proponent.

• The pilot fare of $4.00 per one-way trip.

• The operator retains fares which would be deducted from the Proponent’s monthly invoices.

The City is evaluating service and financial feasibility options.

Public hearing on May 6th to consider changing the zoning on six lots in the South East Sector, north of the Quad-Ball Diamonds. If the change goes through, the lots will be zoned Residential High Density allowing a build of more than 4 units on a lot. All other requirements like parking, setback, and lot coverage would still need to be met.
