WHAT IS YOUR WHY? I love being a resource for business owners to talk to. They often need someone to discuss the challenges that threaten their operations. Being exposed to many different industries I am able to offer unique insights.

CHALLENGES: Sometimes people think accountants only calculate taxes. We do pride ourselves on minimizing potential tax costs, but can also increase your net worth. When you face challenges in your small to medium-size business, turn to us for guidance. From day-to-day operations to creating a proper succession plan, we have advice.

MOTIVATION: Life is challenging and full of adversity. It isn't how we do when things are rolling well that defines how successful we will be. It is amid adversity if we can pick ourselves up and keep going, that will be the defining moments of success. I have been through it like everyone else has. We need support more than ever through these times and knowing that I can help keeps me going. The fact that you can be successful even when it is hard is a testament to your character.

New Data Dashboard includes surgical waitlist in Alberta: 74,900

In a typical year, 29,000 surgeries are performed. The province is aiming to provide 55,000 additional surgeries this year. Surgical capacity is a key indicator in the response to the pandemic.

The nomination period for the 2021 General Election began on January 1, 2021

Beautification grant dollars and interest-free loans, of $10,000.00 available. The Brooks Region will provide grant funds and pay the interest on the loan provided by Community Futures Chinook. Any business in the City of Brooks, County of Newell, Town of Bassano and Villages of Duchess and Rosemary may apply.

House sales are on the rise in the Region due to low interest rates and savings that would normally be spent on things like travel now being used for down payments.

Brooks Economic Development team is working with 2 local entrepreneurs who are ready to open a business but can’t find the ideal commercial space. If you have a 2,000+ sq. ft. space with parking and a 2000+ sq. ft. area outside contact ecdev@brooks.ca

Proposed Bylaw will save businesses in the BRZ $15,000 by cancelling the 2021 taxes. Due to the continued financial hardships that have been placed on businesses due to COVID-19; the City will provide the BRZ with the budgeted dollars requested to ensure normal operations continue in 2021.

Global Village has been working over the past year to create the John Ware Youth Empowerment and Engagement Hub. A Youth Mentorship pilot program in Brooks and area with plans to roll it out provincially. “Together we can create a positive change for our leaders of tomorrow - our youth!”
