The NewGrow program gives community entrepreneurs and innovators the opportunity to startup or expand a business, create a new product, service, or invention. This public pitch competition has an award package of up to $10,000, valuable business services, promotions and mentorships.

• Presentations are just 10 minutes long, so competitors need to provide a detailed yet concise picture of their vision.

Upgrades are necessary to the City’s wastewater treatment because of federal and provincial regulations. Other challenges include the lack of treatment capacity and available land for lagoon expansion.

MAGNA Engineering Services Inc. was engaged to conduct a feasibility study for the management of wastewater, stormwater, and solid waste. The study explored solutions with lower complexity, and lower operation and maintenance costs.

The conclusion of the study proposes the MAGNA Omni-Processor treatment facility as an innovative, sustainable, and low-complexity solution. Regulatory approvals may be required due to the emergent nature of the technology.

Rotary Radio Day is coming up on November 26. Funds raised will help to support worthy causes in our community. This year they celebrate the 40th anniversary with the community of Brooks.

The Broadband Project ran into supply chain issues early in the 2022 construction season. CAO Alan Martens reported that “It was mutually agreed that it was in everyone's best interest to amicably terminate the right of the contractor to continue the work”. The supply chain issues and inflation has increased the cost of the project by $344,835 an increase of 6.4%.
