Downtown Beautification and Art Walk - Funds were not budgeted by Downtown Brooks for a project like this. Due to the timing of this project, they missed the opportunity to apply for grants; however, Brooks Region Tourism has approved a grant of $4,000 from the Experience Development Fund for this project. They are seeking financial support from the City to ensure the project can be completed for the Games. To do all of these buildings, less the $4,000 grant, would be $42,410.

The locations for the proposed murals are:

North Star Pho - Design: Building owners have requested an image that celebrates their Vietnamese heritage. An example: Vietnamese landscapes like rice terraces, Halong Bay or floral-like water lilies.

Twist & Shop - Design: Representative of the "City of 100 Hellos". We plan to include the word "hello" in many languages with the words "City of 100 Hellos" down the length of the wall.

Oxford Hotel - Design: On the south wall, the design will resemble the iconic Alberta License plate with the letters BRO OKS. The boards on all windows and the rock on the west wall will be painted white to match the existing colour of the brick.

Mom Life Maternity - Design: To represent our community's title as a "Bee City", the design will involve a number of bees and graphic shapes.

Brooks Hotel - Design: Building owners have requested an image that represents our Western heritage. The design will involve horses and cowgirls in modern, bright colours.

Old Rodeo Ground Sports Field design of two soccer fields, one football field, a track, bleachers, lighting, an upgraded gravel parking area and the upgrade of the sewer dump site preliminary cost estimate is $5,000,000. The design allows for a future additional soccer field to be added.

Town of Bassano, John Brown Architect, Brenda Strafford Foundation, and Newell Housing Foundation are considering collaborating on a Small Care Home Model Pilot Project. A self-contained facility with up to 14-units utilizing Garden Loft technology and Brenda Strafford Foundation operational models. The Foundation is involved in the innovation of seniors’ health and wellness. Garden Lofts are stand alone, prefabricated backyard suites with the goal of keeping aging parents next door to their loved ones.
