Remembering Together - the community will gather to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served, and those who continue to serve, in the pursuit of peace. The Brooks EID Legion No. 63 will lead the Remembrance Day Service at the JBS Fieldhouse at 10 AM followed by laying of the wreaths at the cenotaph in Veteran’s Park at 11 AM.

Christmas in the Park & Moonlight Madness will be held on Thursday, November 20. The Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade will head south along 2nd Street, ending at Veteran's Park around 6:30PM. Visit Santa in the Gazebo, and enjoy the Brooks Choral Society, firepits and fireworks. Participating businesses will stay open late and offer customer specials. 

Festival of Trees Returns November 20–22 - This year, Brooks Early Learning Academy (BELA) once again hosts the event at the Heritage Inn Hotel & Convention Centre, with proceeds supporting BELA and Ronald McDonald House Charities Alberta.

Development Applications - Council will review a new development application for 408 Meadowbrook Drive East, proposing a two-unit attached home in a single-detached residential zone. Council will also considered an extension request for a mixed-use apartment project at 195 Meadow Lake Way East, which includes commercial space on the main floor along with parking and height variances in a high-density residential zone.

Franchise Fee Adjustments – Council approved proposed increases to the municipal franchise fees collected through utility bills. These fees help fund local services and reduce reliance on property taxes. The estimated household impact is about $1.89/month for electricity and $1.41/month for natural gas. Because franchise fees apply to all utility customers, including tax-exempt entities, they spread costs more evenly across the community. The changes would take effect April 1, 2026, pending Alberta Utilities Commission approval. A public feedback period runs November 5–December 17, 2025.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Project - Council has appointed MPE Engineering to design and manage construction of the new Wastewater Treatment Plant. The 2025 Capital Budget will be updated to include $29.1 million for the project, funded through:

• Federal/Provincial grants: $8.44 million

• Regional partner contributions: $3 million

• Reserve funding: $200,000

• Debenture funding: $17.47 million

How to Speak to City Council - Have an idea, concern, or question for City Council? Residents can request to appear as a delegation at a Council or Committee meeting to share their views directly. Submit a Request and any supporting materials by 12 PM on the Wednesday before the next scheduled meeting. Delegations are generally limited to 10 minutes, and respectful discussion is expected. Council may respond immediately, refer the item for follow-up, or accept it for information. This process ensures every resident has a clear and respectful way to bring forward ideas and concerns, which will help Council make informed, transparent decisions that reflect our community’s voice.
