Strong possibility that the Bandits will be the number one seed which means they need the ice to be reinstalled at a cost of $10,000. Bandits reps asked City council if they would consider waiving the cost to the team because of the economic boost the playoffs would create. Mayor Petrie commented that considering there have been significant property tax increases and the revenue the games generate, there should be some contribution from the team's side regarding the cost.

Community In Blooms has proposed the installation of a solar-powered floral display along Cassils Road to beautify the east entrance of the community. They would seek partnerships with solar suppliers in the community for financial support and equipment. To create a welcoming entrance for visitors they suggested improving the median on Cassils Road with large floral display pots. It was also discussed that relocating the five wind sculptures into one mass display would be more effective. The issue of tree planting along Second Avenue was also revisited. Residents were offered free trees they could have planted but none came forward. The City will look at options for putting something in.

77 Upland Boulevard West is being considered for Residential High Density. The undeveloped property was subdivided in 2006 with no specific development plan. The alley separates this lot from the Walmart parking lot. The proposed rezoning complies with the following Residential Development Objectives:

• A mix of housing densities and tenure is encouraged in new residential developments so that a variety of housing choices are available.

• New development should complement and connect with the existing built-up areas of the City.

This location is within walking distance of a school, shopping and future parks and greenspace. These amenities make for good long-term success of a multi-unit residential project.

Temporary pool closure starting Monday, February 26th, for up to two weeks due to mandatory upgrades. The shutdown, necessitated by provincial changes to pool operating standards, involves replacing the grates at the bottom of the pool. This work, estimated to cost approximately $112,000, was unforeseen but will be covered by the operating budget. The urgency of these upgrades, prompted by safety concerns flagged by Alberta Health Services, means the work cannot wait until the pool's annual maintenance shutdown.

New municipal enforcement vehicle. Staff received pricing from Martin Chrysler, Harwood Ford and Davis Chevrolet for a new police vehicle. The pricing for the police vehicle with decals, lights, sirens, etc. and labour are as follows:

• Dodge - vehicle alone $56,000 - total cost $73,000

• Ford - vehicle alone $58,000 - total cost $77,000

• Chev - vehicle alone $55,000 - total cost $74,000

The Dodge SUV is the preferred vehicle by the Bylaw Department due to maneuverability, fuel costs and overall practicality for the department's use.
