Social Impact Lab will move forward with new leadership. The Brooks Co-Design Lab paused in October 2023 after creating an event/initiative and forming an Action Committee. The initiative stalled due to duplication of existing actions and a lack of leadership. Robyn Klassen, the City’s Inclusion Coordinator, will take the lead, and collaborate with the facilitation team to plan sessions to create and implement a new initiative. The City is not expected to provide funding, though some grant funds allocated to the Inclusion Coordinator position are available for events. Councillor Wardrop has been appointed to the Brooks Co-Design Lab Process.

Numerous City policies are being rescinded as they are not required anymore. One such policy is the Parks Naming Criteria. City administration reviewed the policy manual and found the policy is not required as any person/group can request a Park be renamed. The rescinded policy stated:

The Town of Brooks believes in recognizing a group or individual where a significant contribution has been made toward the development of a park. A park may be suitably named, or suitable recognition provided to recognize the contribution.

Collaborative art project named "Love Thy Neighbour" will be created by the community and displayed in the JBS Canada Centre. This community-driven project is an initiative of the Big Brothers & Big Sisters. It will be a collective effort of community groups including FCSS, Arts, Culture and Heritage Board, Brooks Public Library, and the City of Brooks. The portable art installation will be a mosaic of individual tiles created by community members.

Everyone in Brooks is invited to participate in this meaningful project. No artistic experience is required—just a willingness to express yourself and connect with your neighbours. Whether you are 2 or 82, your contribution will help create a vibrant, inclusive art piece that reflects our community's spirit and unity.

Nelson Mandela Day is held internationally on July 18. Community and staff will walk from City Hall to Evergreen Park and back. Community members can nominate mentors and those who have made changes in the community. During the walk participants will have an opportunity to leave notes on changes they would like to see in the city and how they can help be a part of this change.
