Brooks Bandits Board of Directors voted in favour of contributing $9,840 from their Reserves to keep the ice in at the CRA until June 2 to accommodate their BCHL playoff games. The cost of $36,800 is to be shared between the City and the Bandits, with the City funding $27,000 from the Council Project Reserve and the Brooks Bandits funding $9,840. The Bandits Board agreed to the contribution on the condition that a statement be read to Council Committee. The statement highlighted the Bandits involvement and contributions to the community over the years, the elevated promotion the City and County have received, and the resulting annual economic impact. Although they voted to contribute $9,840, they are asking if the City would consider waiving some or all of the $9,840, to assist them with their long-term security.

Learner's to Driver's Licence in Alberta takes up to three years. Alberta possesses the most restrictive Learner's Licence Program. The Town of Sexsmith and the City of Brooks will ask Alberta Municipalities to advocate to the Provincial Government for legislative changes to shorten the Learner's Licence period to eight months for those 16 years of age and older by taking an approved driver's training course. This is an issue affecting people who need to drive to work.

Brooks Region Tourism will provide funding to hire a Tourism Content Creator that the City will employ and work with to get the content created.

“Where the rubber hits the road is with cost calculations." County CAO Matt Fenske in referring to Intermunicipal Collaboration Frameworks (ICF) agreements pointed out that Council should have actual costs and actual data on the usage of services, “We need to see some proof in the pudding. . . ICF agreements should not just look at [their] rural neighbour as their bank account.” It was also suggested there should be some proportionate give and take. For example, the County should have 50% of the governance and decision-making involvement if 50% of the funding is requested. These comments were made in response to a survey for the Municipal Affairs engagement on Municipal Collaboration Frameworks. Other questions asked were about how arbitrations should be handled. Reeve, Arno Doerksen's final comment was “Wherever possible we need to push for common sense solutions that are determined regionally rather than mandated and legislated impracticalities.”

Doctor Recruitment and Retention - The City of Brooks is actively working with a venture capitalist on a One Clinic model. A draft proposal will be introduced in an upcoming April workshop to Joint Shared Services members. If there is consensus among the members, they will present the draft concept to the doctors.
