Public hearing on a bylaw to rezone the the Old Rodeo Grounds to accommodate a new Catholic High School was held Mon. Oct 21. There was standing room only at the public hearing where 16 people spoke in favour of the rezoning. Students, parents, teachers, principals, community members, and the superintendent for Christ the Redeemer spoke about the over crowding at the Catholic school and its impact on staff and students. Two local truck drivers expressed concerns about the site's location along a truck route and its proximity to railway tracks. After a lengthy debate by council they voted 5 - 2 in favour of rezoning the land.

Rental Assistance Benefit - to assist households in need by subsidizing rents. RAB is administered by the Newell Housing Foundation on behalf of the Government of Alberta. Break and Enter - Brooks RCMP responded to a report of an unwanted individual at a vacant property listed for sale. The homeowners, along with their realtor, discovered an unknown person squatting in the basement. The suspect was arrested by police for break and enter and is scheduled to appear in court.

Skate Park redevelopment - Construction is expected to begin in May 2025, with a 16-week timeline. The budget for the project is $1.5 million.

Brooks Music Festival - Celebrate local talent at the Fall Into Music Concert on October 22, 7 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Free admission, and donations are appreciated.

Election sign concerns - concerns were raised about candidates using portable signs, which are larger than the usual election lawn signs. Council decided to allow portable election signs on private property, limiting two signs per parcel, (a combination of third-party, community event advertising and/or election). This will ensure that vacant properties are not cluttered during the election period.
