Football Program Seeks Funding - Brooks Community Football is seeking a donation of $2,500 - $5,000 from the County of Newell to cover busing costs for the fall 2024 season. Due to the construction of a new school on the current football field, teams will have to play "home" games in Taber and Medicine Hat.

Southern Alberta Energy from Waste Association (SAEWA) - The County of Newell is providing a letter of support for application to the Alberta Community Partnership (ACP) Grant program for a $200,000 grant. SAEWA began in 2009 through a partnership initiative championed from the region of Vulcan. The group is working on creating a clean solution to landfilling waste for a sustainable future. Many letters of support have been provided by the County to SAEWA in the past to support grant funding to complete over $3.2 million dollars in feasibility and engineering work.

Waste disposal fees charged by the Newell Regional Solid Waste Management Authority (NRSWMA) appear to be in violation of the agreement with the County of Newell. The two parties will meet to consider updates to the 1999 agreement to address discrepancies and ensure clarity.

Alberta Open Farms Days is an incubator for agri-tourism and rural sustainability. Events that bring Albertans together around the province.

Kinbrook Connection Pathway has encountered delays. Construction on the final 6km of the path had to be put on hold until fencing could be installed. The only guarantee Mark Harbicht, Director of Municipal Services would make is that work will recommence in 2024. Plans for a grand opening are on hold until there is a finished product.

Lake Newell Resort Pathway is in the final stage of engagement with landowners and EID partnership. Tendering of the work is deferred and remains dependent upon land acquisition.
