Grasslands Soccer Association (GSA) is requesting the help of the City. GSA is looking for a location to invest in, and be proud of, that will benefit current and future youth in the community. Option 1 was the Old Brooks Rodeo Grounds* PROS: Zoned Public Recreation and Open Space Large Area of Land Room for an indoor soccer facility Potential existing washroom facilities City Owned Land Ample Parking Levelled land and irrigation infrastructure CONS: No Sidewalk to location No Playground Structures Overhead Powerline School Site – Uncertainty for Future Use
*The Old Rodeo Grounds is no longer an option as the land has been dedicated to a new Catholic School. Option 2: Meadowbrook Recreation Space PROS: Zoned Public Recreation and Open Space Shared Parking with French School Existing Playground Structure City Owned Land CONS: No Room to Grow
Option 3: South of the Quad Ball Diamonds PROS: Zoned Direct Control owned by the City Existing Play Structure in Area Create an Outdoor Recreation Hub CONS: Further walking distance from city centre Smaller Space
Option 4: Uplands PROS: Zoned Direct Control and Public Service Existing Play Structure in Area CONS: Multiple Landowners (MCF, City, School Board) Further walking distance from city centre Restricted Parking No Room for expansion
GSA is asking the city to consider providing a low-cost, 99-year lease for land in one of the three available options.
