Bike and E-Scooter Enforcement – Community Peace Officers, Brooks RCMP and Safe Communities staff will be throughout Brooks on Wednesday, August 19. Residents may see them on foot, on bicycles and in patrol vehicles as they educate riders and enforce traffic and safety laws. Privately owned e-scooters cannot legally be used on Brooks roads, sidewalks or pathways. They may only be ridden on private property. Cyclists must follow traffic signs, ride with traffic and yield to pedestrians when required. Riders under 18 must wear an approved helmet.

JBS Exit Opening – The rebuilt intersection at Highway 873 and Township Road 192 is open, but the new exit from JBS remains closed while JBS prepares employees for the change. The one-way exit could open as early as August 17. Drivers will be required to turn left onto Township Road 192 and travel east toward Brooks and the north overpass. The new route is intended to reduce delays that have kept employees waiting up to an hour and 45 minutes to leave the plant. When the exit opens, County enforcement officers will be on site or in the area, “educating and enforcing as necessary.”
