Economic Development Training - Council received an update from Councillors Johnson and Regner related to the Community Economic Development Training Program, which focuses on business investment and attraction. It is designed for elected officials and community leaders and provides tools and strategies to support local businesses, attract investment, and strengthen economic planning.

Report on Rural Health Supports - focused on efforts to keep doctors practising locally by providing temporary physician coverage that allows doctors to take time off. The report also noted Health Care Heroes awards that recognize contributions in rural health care. The report also discussed midwifery services being available to all Albertans, along with greater use of nurse practitioners.

Black History month - Brooks & District Genealogical Society will be doing a presentation of local interest, Mildred Lewis-Ware died March 30, 1905, from pneumonia, and famed cowboy John was killed five months later when his horse rolled on him at his ranch, leaving six children orphaned.         

Coffee-with-a-Cop - in Bassano, Thursday, Feb. 12, 10:00 a.m. at the Roadside Grill. Bring your concerns and what you’re observing, because as Sgt. Schmidt said, “We don’t know what we don’t know.” He will be joined by Brooks Staff Sergeant Harms, the Brooks Safe Community, and the district advisory NCO.

FREE Library Card - Brooks Public Library memberships will be free for the duration of 2026. The standard $10 annual fee for adult memberships is waived for all residents within the Shortgrass Library System until December 31, 2026. The library ended 2025 with a surplus, an uncommon outcome. These funds will be placed in reserve and may be used for acoustic baffles to improve sound quality in the space.
